I need new hair styles!?

Hey everyone. I have black hair down to my shoulders, so die bangs, no layers...but it gets shorter near the front...so it's kinda on like a curve so like in the front it is short and as it goes bak it gets longer then as it goes toward the other side towards the front it gets short again. I'll try to get a pic soon. Anyway, I've tried the messy bun, low pigtails, side ponytail, french braid, ponytail, curly, wavy, ( my hair is just naturally straight) half up half down, side half up hanf down, and just a headband. OMG! some nice long curls would look amazing for prom! but the rihanna style....NO!! not for prom! u want to avoid bold styles like that!! if u get it cut wrong from a salon u will definetly regret it! and im pretty sure u wont get the results u want. u dont want it to turn out horrible! beacuse this is a very difficult cut! its easy to mess up, not very "formal"

I copied this from some old questions I answered.

Retro: Wear a headband at where your bangs "begin" if you have them, or near your forehead if you don't have bangs. Back comb your hair (brush all of your hair backward so you will see no part.) Spray this with hairspray so it stays in place. Curl the ends of your hair.

Loose waves: Curl your hair with a 1"-2" curling iron. Start so that the ends of your hair are sticking out; don't start at the tip. Spray your waves with hairspray so they don't go flat.

"Scrunchy" hair:

About 3 minutes

Take a nickel size amount of gel and spread it on your hands. Scrunch your hair to get a messy, cool look.

Chunky hair:

About 2 minutes

Spread a very small amount of pomade onto your fingers. Pull pieces of hair outward for a simple but cute look.

Updo

About 1 minute

Pull on your hair like you are going to put it in a ponytail. Hold with your right hand. Grab your "ponytail" with your left hand and twist it to the left. Clip up with a giant barette.

okay. so have you seen Fantastic Four? that one girl (cant remember her name right now) sorta put her bangs up, but just her bangs and short hairs when it was layered. i think that would look pretty. dont use a hairtie, that would probably make people laugh. but use those clippy things. you know you can snap it. also, you maybe can get layers!! those are so fun to help design your hair. you can get them leading from your bangs and going down. they will probably look gorgeous. :]

how about a curling iron or a straightening iron? they deffinetly will add some creativity, just make sure you use a heat protective spray. here are some stlyes. :)

for this stlye, make sure you're hair is washed. greasy hair or dirty hair does not curl nicely at all. use a medium sized curling iron, and curl all of you're hair; leaving your bangs straight (if you have bangs.) if not you can clip up the front of you're hair leaving a little poof on the top. it would look cute. :)

So I had 5.5-6 inch hair prior too getting it cut for wrestling, I liked too put all kinds of temp hair colors in it and play with it etc. but now that my coach made me cut it Im down too about 2.5 inches all around, its not coarse at all and its dirty blonde/light brown in color, Id gladly put any color in it. I have plenty of time in the morning too work with it, but Im a punk rocker and I dress it, skinny jeans, band shirts etc. so I need a style too match it until I grow it out too wear i like it again, any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Big, soft curls with a curling iron would work pretty alright, and they're perfect. You can dress them up or down.

Also, intricate braids are always funky and cool. They may take awhile but the results are usually worth it.

i have long hair too and my school is really strict about what you can and cant do. Most websites dont help because they just show outrageous models with hairstyles that really don't suit for school. you would probably have more options iff you cut your hair but if you don't want to do that, half up half down looks really cute. curl the part thats tied up and add a cute little bow or clip etc.

well you could start out by getting a hair cut and get it to about maybe a little under the shoulders and then get bangs(not the straight across ones) but the swoopy ones.. and then get really choppy(noticable) layers... it will be such a big change and everyone will love it... and for now I would wear it down. or not just a regular pony tail but like maybe a side loose ponytail... just change it up a bit... like maybe rhalf up in a clip and the rest down..... maybe even curl it with a curling iron.... you should work with what you have now until you have time to get it cut. I don't suggest cutting your hair until you've experimented with a few different looks. Go to a wig store and try some different hairstyles and then see what you like and what actually looks good on your face...If you have curly hair you should try different hairstyles with that also...I love the black hair I just dyed my hair back black...It's a real classic look that screams sophistication on women. (Depending on your complexion).

Well, my hair is also very thick and i have some bangs off to the side and their shorter than the rest. What i usually do is put my hair in a chunky headband and have all the hair back except the shorter bangs.

ya try some different things, volume and body are important if u dont want BLAH hair u can take the front part of ur hair and pull it back and push it forward then pin it for a lil UMPH and u can curl it or have wavy hair , mayb u will want to straighten it but flip the ends out/in just experiment on the weekend or something u can also go to a solon have it trimmed and ask them what kind of style will give you buetiful healthy hair that is not an updo but not just sitting there u can also search on google for some ideas...:D hope i helped!!!

Get your hair thinned out a bit %26amp; have long or short layers put in for easy styling/manageablity. (It's great to give that ponytail a break for a while, as that's what causes hair breakage) Light fluffy layered bangs would look nice, if you wear bangs.

You could curl or straighten it. I would recommend buying a bunch of cute ribbons and clips and accesories and stuff and experiment with them!!

For example, one day you could come to school with a ribbon in your hair, and the next you could have a bunch of like butterfly clips in it or something.

Ok, so I've got long hair, roughly the same as that in my avatar.. nose length in the front to about chin length around the sides.. about five inches. Usually its over my face but I'm looking to get it off my face tonight for a party. The 2 above mentioned bedhead products are awesome, I have mid back length hair and if I put enough of that gel and set it with a bit of the spray - I think it would hold all day. The Maxxed Out Hairspray has the stiffest firmest hold I've ever found. You will def. need some kind of shampoo to get all that stuff out though cuz its really alot of product to put in your hair.

As far as the sides, with the gel just slick them straight on up - you can proably get them to stick to your head and if not, you can slick them back and around and ancor them with a bobypin... hope this helps!

believe it or not, the farrah is comming back in style, I see all the celebrities with long fluffy hair, brushed back away from the face. Also if you have long hair ask a man/boy, or better yet do a survey with every man/boy you know, I bet most of them will say long hair. I also think girls look younger with long hair. When I see someone my age with short hair (40), I automatically think they are much older than me, and I'm in shock to find out they are not. Also when young girls have short hair it looks like they have a baby face, and if you have chubby cheeks, you will just look younger. Also long hair can be put up when you are sweaty, and it don't get oily, where as short hair falls all over your face and gets greasy looking very fast and causes you to have to wash it more often. This sucks it you are into sports. I know I might spend more time blowing my hair when I do wash it but I have to wash it less beause once it is fixed, it will stay fixed for a few days and I twist it up in a bun when I sleep to keep a soft or straight style.

I agree it depends upon the shape of your face. I had hair down to my waist when I was in highschool and my first few years in college. When I got pregnant at 24 I decided I too needed a change. I had it cut short (to my shirt collar) and BOY what a difference. I liked it for a while but then I read somewhere that most men preferred long hair on a woman (as I was now single) and I decided to grow my hair back. I have been trying for more than 5 years to grow out my hair and can't get it beyond the middle of my back.

I have just over two feet of very thick, wavy golden blonde hair with some natural red highlights. I have very rich, dark, brown eyes, a square shaped face and I am heavier. I have never done anything with my hair. I have no bangs, no layers just two staite feet of VERY THICK HAIR. What can I do with it to flatter my features? I'll take anything, styling ideas, color recommendations, haircut recommendations, whatever you got?

I have included two pictures. One of my face so you can see my features (and please don't tell me I'm not pretty) and the other of my hair from the back (although that's not the colour, the lighting was bad) for reference. Thanks.

Cut the back to your shoulders (maybe a lil' bit past). Cut long, chin-length bangs and from there, add layers around your face. Part your bangs on the side and clip them or tuck them behind your ears. The longer bangs will hide a little more of your forehead and the layers will frame your face so it won't be so angular(square). Your hair is really pretty- maybe you could go extreme and cut it for "Locks-of-Love"!!!

cut a couple inches off so all the hair isn't on your body and try straightening or blow dying it. add some wispy bangs since you have a strong forehead. wispy refers to the bangs reese witherspoon got for the 2007 oscars and golden globes (look it up). keep the color.

if you have thick wavy hair, i would not suggest going with a bob, takes you HOURS to straighten it, no joke.

Get it textured and layered. that always looks cute.

I had long hair, til yesterdya. Its still a decent length but I took a inches off, got layers and bangs. I feel like a whole new perosn! So find a style you want and do it. You'll feel great. Good luck!

if you get your hair razored, it will help with the weight and thickness of your hair

Your hair is beautiful and looks really healthy. What you need to do is get a cut...by cut I don't mean a chop but layers to give the hair body and I would add bangs. That way you can choose to put it up and it would still work or you can leave it down and it will have volum and be easier to work with. Good Luck!

When I was your age, I had below waist length hair. I loved just braiding it, wearing pigtails, ponytails, hairbands, ect... Enjoy wearing it long and experiment with it. Girls with shorter hair don't have the options that you do.

I wish I had hair like u at the moment!I got my mum to cut my hair it was long but not as long as yours,and she cut it-i wanted it shoulder length-and i moved my head and she cut it to short.Now it is almost shoulder length but jsut past chin.I would suggest putting your hair in a really big ponytail on your head :)

Okay so, after almost 14 years my parents have finally decided to let me do what I wish with my hair(Well, kind of). I never had an actual hair cut, just trims. And if you know me, you know I absolutely dread long hair. I want shorter hair, and I want them side bangs you see around, like on Lauren from The Hills. I need something parent approved, lol.

I have a big head, just to put that out. My hair is brown, and naturally turns to blondeish at the bottom. My part, parts best at the center but we can always change that right? It's straight, so people say. It's really thick, and ugh I just hate it hah.

you need layers!! How about a nice cut that layers around your face. You could have side bangs and then gradually get layers from that, and you could still keep a bit of lenght in the back. A bit of highlights wouldn't hurt. If you don't want anything too radical just get a few shades lighter than your own hair, but it would do a huge lot to give you're hair a bit more life. You're face is pretty, you definitely need to cut your hair quite a bit shorter, but layers will make it look nice, give character and frame your face nicely. Try it, you'll like it!! I used to have long hair like you as a teen and parents like yours, so this is tested and proved right!!

my advie is don't go too short. If i were u i would try sumthin shoulder length or just above the shoulders. if u want great pics of cute hair styles go to google images and type in.........

I went through the same thing::: I was not allowed to cut my hair until 8th grade. Now, at 25, I have had several different lengths. I chop it off and then I always gravitate towards longer hair and longer layers b/c that is what works for me. Good LUck!!!

Your young, keep it fresh and not so artificial. Do a sext, but natural style like the celebs do on the red carpet. Wear it up but not really tight. And please do not take a curling iron and curl a few strands around your face. I hate that look.
